The GATOR 9711GA is a Type 29 zirconium oxide flap disc engineered for aggressive material removal on angle grinders. Measuring 4.5 inches in diameter with a 0.875-inch arbor hole, this 120-grit disc is designed for metalworking applications where surface conditioning and stock removal are required in a single pass. The conical Type 29 profile presents the abrasive at an optimum grinding angle, allowing full contact across the disc face. Zirconium oxide grain self-sharpens under pressure, delivering consistent cut rate throughout the disc life. At 0.18 pounds, the disc adds minimal weight to the grinder.
This flap disc is suited for use on angle grinders in fabrication shops, welding operations, and general metalworking environments. The 120-grit rating makes it appropriate for finishing and light blending passes following heavier grinding operations. It is sold individually and fits standard 4.5-inch angle grinders with a 0.875-inch arbor. Trades that commonly reach for this disc include ironworkers, pipefitters, sheet metal workers, and welders performing weld blending or surface prep prior to coating.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 4.5-inch Type 29 flap discs used on angle grinders with a 0.875-inch arbor bore.
Installation and disc changes must be performed by qualified personnel with the grinder unplugged or the power source locked out and tagged out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before mounting and never exceed the maximum RPM rating printed on the disc label. Ensure the arbor nut is tightened securely using the correct spanner wrench before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating angle grinders with abrasive discs.
