The GATOR 9629 is a Type 1 metal cut-off wheel designed for cutting and chopping applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Measuring 6 inches in diameter, 0.040 inches thick, and with a 7/8-inch arbor bore, this wheel mounts on standard angle grinders and cut-off tools used in fabrication, HVAC rough-in, and general trade work. The fiberglass-reinforced construction provides structural integrity at operating speed, helping the wheel resist flex and shattering under load. It is suited for repetitive cuts where a thin kerf and controlled material removal are priorities.
This cut-off wheel is appropriate for use in residential and light commercial applications where metal conduit, pipe, strut, and sheet stock need to be cut cleanly and efficiently. Trades that commonly use this wheel include electricians cutting EMT and rigid conduit, HVAC installers trimming threaded rod and sheet metal supports, and plumbers working with metal pipe. The 6-inch diameter makes it compatible with smaller cut-off tools and angle grinders in the 6-inch class.
Designed for use with standard angle grinders and cut-off tools accepting a 6-inch diameter, 7/8-inch arbor Type 1 abrasive wheel.
This wheel should be installed and operated by personnel familiar with abrasive wheel safety. Before mounting, inspect the wheel for cracks or chips and confirm the tool's rated RPM meets or exceeds the wheel's maximum RPM rating. Always use the appropriate guard and personal protective equipment including eye and face protection. Follow ANSI B7.1 safety requirements for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels.
