The GATOR 9603 is a Type 27 metal cut-off wheel engineered for heavy-duty cutting, grinding, and deburring on angle grinders. Built with industrial-grade silicon carbide abrasive and double-reinforced construction, this wheel delivers faster cuts and extended service life compared to single-reinforced alternatives. At 4 inches in diameter, 1/8 inch thick, and with a 5/8 inch arbor bore, it fits standard angle grinders used daily in fabrication shops, mechanical rooms, and on job sites. Licensed tradespeople and experienced metalworkers reach for this wheel when material removal speed and wheel durability both matter.
This cut-off wheel is suited for low-angle and vertical grinding applications on metal substrates. Its Type 27 depressed-center profile allows the operator to maintain a lower grinding angle, reducing fatigue during extended cutting and surface work. Typical applications include cutting pipe, rod, flat stock, and structural steel, as well as deburring weld seams and rough edges. The 4-inch size makes it practical for tight-clearance work where larger wheels cannot reach.
Designed for use on angle grinders accepting a 5/8 inch arbor and accommodating a 4-inch Type 27 cut-off wheel. Verify maximum RPM rating on the grinder guard before mounting.
Mounting and use of abrasive cut-off wheels should be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safety standards and the grinder manufacturer's guidelines. Always power down and disconnect the grinder before changing wheels. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before mounting and never exceed the maximum RPM marked on the wheel. Wear appropriate PPE, including a face shield, when operating angle grinders with cut-off wheels.
