The GATOR 4229 is a coarse-grit sandpaper sheet designed for sanding bare wood surfaces. Each sheet measures 9 inches x 11 inches and carries a 60-grit rating, making it suited for aggressive material removal and surface preparation before finishing. The abrasive layer uses a resin bond rather than an ordinary glue bond, which extends sheet life under sustained use. Sheets are sold in a 25-pack box, giving tradespeople and finish carpenters enough supply to complete larger jobs without repeated reordering.
This sandpaper is used in fine woodworking and cabinet making applications where bare wood must be leveled, shaped, or prepped before staining or coating. The 60-grit coarse classification makes it most effective on rough stock, raw lumber, and initial surface passes where significant material needs to be removed. It is not intended for finish sanding or finishing over stains and coatings.
Designed for use on bare wood surfaces in woodworking, cabinet making, and general carpentry applications where coarse-grit sheet sanding is required.
Sheet sandpaper of this type is installed by hand or loaded into a sheet sander by a woodworker or finish carpenter. Secure the sheet firmly to the sanding block or tool platen before use to prevent slippage. Sand with the grain of the wood on exposed surfaces to minimize cross-grain scratches. Replace sheets when abrasive loading or glazing reduces cutting efficiency.
