The GARDNER BENDER HST-125 is a polyolefin heat shrink tubing designed for insulating, protecting, and repairing electrical conductors and connections. It features a 2:1 shrink ratio, which means the tubing shrinks to half its original diameter when heat is applied, forming a smooth, tight-fitting sleeve around the substrate. The tubing measures 0.125 inches in diameter and 4 inches in length. It is UL listed and CSA approved, meeting standard requirements for electrical insulation applications. Electricians, maintenance technicians, and experienced DIYers use this tubing for quick, clean insulation work on wire splices, terminals, and cord repairs.
This heat shrink tubing is suited for repairing electrical cords on power tools and appliances, adding grip to hand tool handles, and providing strain relief or abrasion protection on conductors. Its flexibility after shrinking makes it appropriate for applications where the finished assembly will flex in use. The 4-inch length is practical for most single-conductor or small bundle insulation tasks in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.
Designed as a general-purpose heat shrink sleeve for small-diameter electrical conductors, wire splices, and terminal insulation in residential and light commercial electrical work.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or qualified technicians following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the tubing to any conductor or connection. Slide the tubing over the conductor or splice before making the final connection, then apply heat evenly at a temperature below 200 degrees F using a heat gun, working around the circumference until the tubing shrinks uniformly. Avoid open-flame heat sources, which can scorch the tubing or damage adjacent insulation.
