The GARDNER BENDER 10-086 is a medium red wing-type wire connector sold in a 100-pack, designed for making quick, secure electrical splices in residential and commercial wiring applications. The expandable square wire spring inside the connector creates a vibration-resistant connection that maintains positive continuity between conductors. The thermoplastic shell is flame-retardant, nonporous, noncorrosive, and resistant to surface cracking and chemical action. A deep skirt design prevents bare wire exposure and provides flash-over protection. The 10-086 is rated to 221 degrees F and carries UL486C listing and CSA certification, meeting Federal specification W-5-610d.
These wire connectors are suited for copper-to-copper splices across a wire range of 22 AWG to 6 AWG. They are commonly used by electricians on branch circuit wiring, fixture connections, device splices, and junction box work in both residential and light commercial settings. The wing-type design allows fast hand-tightening without a tool, making them practical for high-volume rough-in and trim-out work. The color-coded red shell provides quick visual identification of the correct connector size during installation.
Designed for copper-to-copper wire splices across a range of 22 AWG to 6 AWG conductors in standard electrical wiring applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before making any wire connections. Insert conductors fully into the connector and tighten by hand using the wing tabs until firm resistance is felt. Inspect each completed connection to confirm no bare wire is exposed below the connector skirt.
