The GALLAGHER NORTH AMERICA AXL17250 is a 250-foot spool of 17-gauge aluminum electric fence wire designed for livestock containment and controlled grazing applications. Aluminum conducts electricity approximately four times better than steel wire of comparable gauge, improving fence energizer performance across long spans. At roughly one-third the weight of steel wire, the spool is easier to handle and transport in the field. Tension and connection work can be done by hand — no special crimping or splicing tools required. This wire is suited for permanent fence lines as well as rotational and strip-grazing setups where frequent respooling is part of the workflow.
This wire is used in agricultural and rural fencing applications including rotational grazing paddocks, temporary livestock dividers, and perimeter fence lines for cattle, horses, sheep, and goats. Its flexibility makes it practical for irregular terrain and multi-strand fence configurations. The aluminum construction eliminates rust concerns in wet climates or low-lying pasture areas where steel wire tends to degrade. Electric fence wire is typically installed by the property owner or a fencing contractor familiar with agricultural fencing standards. Disconnect and de-energize the fence energizer completely before handling or splicing wire. Use appropriate insulated line post insulators and corner strain insulators rated for aluminum wire to prevent galvanic corrosion at contact points. Aluminum wire can be hand-twisted for connections, but avoid contact with dissimilar metals such as steel staples or clamps where prolonged moisture exposure is likely.
