The FRIEDRICH TCFY6021STAAMC is a cased evaporator coil rated for 4 to 5 ton (60,000 BTU/h) residential and light commercial split-system air conditioning applications. It is designed for use with R454B refrigerant, a lower-GWP A2L refrigerant that is becoming the standard in modern residential cooling equipment. The coil ships with a factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) for precise refrigerant metering. At 21 inches wide, the multi-position configuration allows installation in upflow, downflow, or horizontal orientations depending on the air handler or furnace setup. Licensed HVAC technicians are the intended installers for this component.
This evaporator coil is suited for split-system cooling or heat pump installations where a 4 to 5 ton capacity is required. The multi-position design gives installing contractors flexibility across a range of air handler and furnace configurations without requiring a separate coil SKU for each orientation. The included TXV eliminates the need to source a separate metering device, which simplifies installation on matched-system setups. This coil is intended for use in systems charged with R454B refrigerant only.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil for multi-position split-system and heat pump installations requiring 4 to 5 ton capacity and R454B refrigerant compatibility. Verify system refrigerant type and tonnage match before installation.
Installation must be performed by an EPA Section 608 certified HVAC technician, as this coil is part of a refrigerant-containing system using an A2L classified refrigerant (R454B), which requires attention to applicable local codes and manufacturer handling guidelines. De-energize the air handler or furnace and recover any existing refrigerant charge before disconnecting the refrigerant circuit. Verify that the condensing unit, line set, and all system components are rated and approved for use with R454B prior to commissioning. Confirm coil orientation and drain pan positioning before securing the cased assembly in the cabinet.
