The FRIEDRICH TCFY4824STANMC is a cased evaporator coil designed for split-system residential and light-commercial air conditioning and heat pump applications. Rated at 48,000 BTU/h (3.5 to 4 nominal tons), it uses R454B refrigerant and ships with a factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) for precise refrigerant metering. The cased enclosure simplifies installation by providing a finished, ready-to-install cabinet that seals to the air handler or furnace plenum. At 24 inches wide, it fits a range of multi-position air handler configurations. Licensed HVAC technicians certified in low-GWP refrigerant handling should install and service this coil.
This coil is suited for multi-position installations, meaning it can be oriented for upflow, downflow, or horizontal airflow depending on the system layout. It is compatible with R454B-rated split systems in the 3.5 to 4 ton capacity range. The factory TXV eliminates the need for a field-installed metering device, making it appropriate for both new construction and replacement applications in residential and light-commercial settings where R454B refrigerant systems are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil for use with R454B split-system air conditioners and heat pumps in the 3.5 to 4 ton capacity range.
Installation must be performed by an HVAC technician holding EPA Section 608 certification and, where required, certification for A2L refrigerants such as R454B. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the air handler and outdoor unit before beginning coil installation. Verify that the existing refrigerant line set, condensate drain, and plenum dimensions are compatible with the coil cabinet before mounting. Follow all applicable local mechanical codes and manufacturer instructions for leak testing and system evacuation before recharging.
