The FRIEDRICH TCFY4824MTANMC is a cased evaporator coil rated for 3.5 to 4 nominal tons, designed for use with R454B refrigerant in split-system residential or light commercial HVAC applications. The coil ships in a cased configuration and is factory-equipped with a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) for metering refrigerant flow, which improves efficiency across a range of operating conditions compared to fixed-orifice metering. With a nominal capacity of 48,000 BTU/h and a casing width of 24 inches, this coil is suited for multi-position installation, fitting upflow, downflow, or horizontal air handler configurations.
This coil is intended for installation in forced-air split systems using R454B, a lower-global-warming-potential refrigerant that is increasingly specified in new residential construction and equipment replacement projects. The multi-position design reduces the number of SKUs an installer must stock, allowing the same coil to be deployed across a variety of air handler orientations common in attic, basement, closet, and utility room installations. Licensed HVAC technicians handling R454B systems should be aware that this refrigerant is mildly flammable (A2L classification) and requires appropriate handling procedures.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation evaporator coil for multi-position split systems using R454B refrigerant in the 3.5 to 4 nominal ton capacity range.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle refrigerants. The system should be fully de-energized and refrigerant safely recovered before removing or replacing the coil. R454B is an A2L mildly flammable refrigerant; follow all applicable safety codes and equipment manufacturer guidelines for handling and leak testing. Confirm TXV superheat settings are appropriate for the matched outdoor unit before returning the system to service.
