The FRIEDRICH TCFY2417STANMC is a cased evaporator coil rated at 24000 BTU/h (1.5 to 2 nominal tons) designed for use with R454B refrigerant. It ships with a factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) for precise refrigerant metering and consistent performance across the operating range. The cased enclosure simplifies installation and helps direct airflow cleanly through the coil assembly. At 17.5 inches wide, this unit fits a standard air handler cabinet configuration. Licensed HVAC technicians install this coil as part of a split-system or packaged cooling application where R454B compatibility is required.
This evaporator coil is suited for residential and light-commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump installations. Its multi-position orientation allows installation in upflow, downflow, or horizontal configurations depending on the air handler or furnace cabinet layout. The R454B refrigerant designation makes it appropriate for new construction and replacement projects that must comply with updated refrigerant regulations phasing out higher-GWP refrigerants. The included TXV eliminates the need to source a separate metering device, reducing field labor and component mismatch risk.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil replacement or new installation component for residential and light-commercial split-system and heat pump applications using R454B refrigerant and requiring a 1.5 to 2 ton capacity coil with TXV metering.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician certified to handle refrigerants under applicable EPA Section 608 regulations. Shut down and de-energize the full system before removing or installing any coil assembly. Follow the equipment manufacturer's specifications for refrigerant line sizing, brazing procedures, and evacuation requirements. Verify that the condensing unit, lineset, and system controls are all rated and approved for use with R454B refrigerant before commissioning.
