The FRIEDRICH TCFY2417MTANMC is a cased evaporator coil rated at 24,000 BTU/h (1.5 to 2 nominal tons) for use in residential and light-commercial split-system air conditioning and heat pump applications. The coil ships with a factory-installed thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) for precise refrigerant metering and is engineered for R454B refrigerant, a lower-GWP alternative to R410A. At 17.5 inches wide, the cased enclosure supports multi-position installation, giving technicians flexibility when fitting the coil into an air handler or furnace-coil cabinet in a variety of orientations. Licensed HVAC technicians are the intended installers for this component.
This coil is suited for multi-position residential split systems where the installer needs flexibility in cabinet orientation — upflow, downflow, or horizontal configurations are accommodated. The cased design simplifies installation into existing or new coil cabinets and keeps the coil assembly protected during handling and startup. The factory-installed TXV eliminates the need for a field-supplied metering device and is matched to the R454B refrigerant circuit. Typical applications include new construction and replacement installations in residential forced-air systems.
Designed as an OEM-style cased evaporator coil for use in residential split-system air conditioning and heat pump applications requiring R454B refrigerant and a 1.5 to 2 ton capacity match.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes and the system manufacturer's instructions. Shut down and lock out the electrical supply to the air handler or furnace before beginning coil installation. Confirm that the condensing unit is rated for R454B refrigerant before connecting the coil, as R454B systems require compatible components throughout. Do not use R410A or R22 service equipment that has not been verified compatible with mildly flammable A2L refrigerants such as R454B.
