The FREUD FB-104 is a 4-piece high speed steel (HSS) Forstner bit set designed for drilling flat-bottom holes, pocket holes, and overlapping holes in wood and wood composite materials. Each bit features a sharp center spur that accurately locates the center of the hole before the cutting edge engages, reducing drift and improving accuracy. The set covers four common diameters in a single package, making it a practical addition to a woodworking or finish carpentry toolkit. All four bits share a 3.5-inch overall length. Shank diameters vary by bit size to match standard drill chucks. This set is used by carpenters, cabinetmakers, and millwork installers who need clean, precise flat-bottom bores.
The FB-104 is suited for residential and light commercial woodworking applications including cabinet installation, furniture assembly, pocket hole joinery, and hinge boring. The four included bit sizes cover the most common Forstner drilling tasks. The 1-inch and 0.75-inch bits use a 0.375-inch shank. The 0.5-inch bit uses a 0.3125-inch shank, and the 0.25-inch bit uses a 0.25-inch shank. All bits are compatible with standard drill presses and handheld drills with appropriately sized chucks.
Designed for use with standard drill presses and handheld drills fitted with chucks that accept 0.25-inch, 0.3125-inch, and 0.375-inch shanks. Intended for use in wood, plywood, MDF, and similar wood-based materials.
Forstner bits are installed by woodworkers and carpenters using a drill press or handheld drill with a keyed or keyless chuck. Always secure the workpiece with clamps before drilling to prevent movement. When using a handheld drill, start at low speed to allow the center spur to seat before increasing RPM. Keep bits clear of metal fasteners embedded in the workpiece, as contact will damage the cutting edges.
