The FREUD DSP3050 is a 7/8-inch by 16-inch Speed Demon spade bit designed for fast, clean drilling in wood. The self-feeding speed-tip geometry initiates cuts quickly and pulls the bit through the material with less applied pressure, reducing fatigue during high-volume work. A curved paddle design promotes aggressive chip evacuation, keeping the flute clear and sustaining cut speed across repeated holes. The shank is impact-rated for use in both cordless and corded impact drivers and drill drivers, providing added stability and durability compared to standard spade bit shanks. Sold in a 5-piece package, this bit is well suited for electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general contractors boring through framing, joists, and plates.
The DSP3050 is built for production drilling tasks where hole count and speed matter. The 16-inch overall length makes it practical for boring through deeper assemblies such as double top plates, thick framing members, or stacked lumber. The 7/8-inch diameter is a common size for running conduit, pipe, and low-voltage wiring through wood framing. The impact-strong shank construction holds up under the higher torque output of modern brushless impact drivers without the twisting or breakage common to lighter-duty spade bits.
Designed for use in wood framing applications with standard 1/4-inch hex shank cordless and corded drill drivers and impact drivers.
Installation of this bit is performed by electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians boring wire and pipe paths through wood framing. Ensure the chuck or collet is fully seated and locked before operation. When drilling through existing assemblies, verify no energized wiring, live plumbing, or structural hardware is present in the bore path before drilling. Use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection when operating rotary boring tools.
