The FREUD DSP2050-P2 is a 2-pack of 1/2-inch by 6-inch Speed Demon spade bits engineered for fast, clean hole drilling in wood. The high-performance speed-tip geometry self-feeds into the material, reducing the force required to drive the bit and cutting cycle time compared to conventional spade bits. An optimized curved paddle design accelerates chip evacuation, which translates directly to more holes per battery charge on cordless tools. The shank is impact-rated for use in both cordless and corded impact drivers and drill drivers, providing increased stability and resistance to shank deformation under high-torque conditions. Carpenters, electricians, and plumbers reach for these bits when drilling through framing and plates for wire and pipe runs.
The DSP2050-P2 is suited for residential and light commercial work where 1/2-inch through-holes in wood framing, subflooring, or similar wood substrates are required. The 6-inch length gives added reach for drilling through deeper members or stacked plates without an extension. These bits are compatible with standard hex-shank drill drivers and impact drivers commonly used by electricians roughing in conduit and cable pathways, plumbers running pipe through joists, and general contractors framing rough openings. The 2-pack quantity keeps a backup on hand during continuous production drilling runs.
Designed for use with standard hex-shank drill drivers and cordless or corded impact drivers. Intended for drilling clean through-holes in wood framing, joists, and similar wood substrates.
Electricians and plumbers typically use spade bits when drilling through wood framing for wire and pipe runs; confirm hole size meets applicable NEC or IPC clearance requirements for the material being passed through. Secure the workpiece before drilling and use appropriate eye protection. Inspect the shank for wear or deformation before each use, particularly when running the bit in an impact driver at sustained high torque. Allow the bit to clear chips fully between holes to maintain cutting efficiency and extend bit life.
