The FREUD DS0408CF is a carbide-tipped reciprocating saw blade engineered for cutting thick metal in demanding trade and demolition applications. Part of the Diablo Steel Demon line, it features a Perma-Shield non-stick coating that protects the blade from heat buildup, gumming, and corrosion during extended cuts. The 1-inch demolition body design increases rigidity, producing straighter cuts with reduced vibration. At 4 inches in length with an 8-tooth configuration, it is optimized for aggressive metal removal rather than fine finishing. Sold in a 5-blade pack. Electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, and general contractors use this blade when cutting through tough ferrous materials on the jobsite.
This blade is rated for thick metal stock ranging from 3/16 inches to 1/2 inches in thickness. Target materials include cast iron pipe, high-strength alloy steel, and stainless steel — common in mechanical, plumbing, and structural demolition work. The carbide-tipped teeth maintain a cutting edge significantly longer than bi-metal blades when working through abrasive or hardened metals. The 5-blade pack quantity suits service contractors who consume blades regularly on multi-trade demo projects.
Designed for use in standard reciprocating saws accepting universal shank reciprocating blades. Intended for thick metal applications including cast iron, high-strength alloy steel, and stainless steel stock from 3/16 inches to 1/2 inches thick.
Installation should be performed by qualified tradespeople familiar with reciprocating saw operation and jobsite cutting safety. Ensure the saw is fully powered off and the blade clamp is released before inserting or removing any blade. Eye protection, gloves, and hearing protection are required when cutting metal with a reciprocating saw. Secure the workpiece firmly before cutting to prevent movement and blade binding.
