The FREUD 04-102 is a 2-flute carbide straight router bit designed for clean, accurate straight cuts in wood, MDF, plywood, and similar materials. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter and a 1/4 inch shank, this bit fits standard 1/4 inch router collets found on most handheld and table-mounted routers. The 1/2 inch cutting length provides enough depth for dadoes, grooves, and mortises in typical millwork and casework applications. The carbide construction delivers edge retention well beyond high-speed steel, making it a practical choice for repetitive production work or detailed finish carpentry.
This bit is suited for residential and light commercial woodworking, cabinetmaking, trim carpentry, and shop fabrication tasks. The compact 3/16 inch diameter is particularly useful for narrow slot cutting, inlay routing, and tight-tolerance joinery where a larger bit would remove too much material. It is intended for use by carpenters, finish tradespeople, and skilled shop operators running handheld routers or fixed router tables.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-use straight router bit compatible with routers equipped with a 1/4 inch collet.
Always power down and unplug the router before installing or changing bits. Insert the shank fully into the collet and tighten according to the router manufacturer's torque guidelines using the appropriate collet wrench. Feed direction, router speed, and depth of cut should follow standard woodworking safety practices and the router manufacturer's recommendations. Eye and hearing protection are required during operation.
