Installation is performed by an automotive technician or qualified DIYer during a standard oil and filter service. Before replacing the filter, shut off the engine, allow it to cool, and safely raise and support the vehicle if underhood access requires it. Remove the old filter carefully to avoid oil spillage, lightly lubricate the new filter gasket with fresh oil before threading on, and hand-tighten only — do not use a filter wrench to over-tighten. After starting the engine, inspect the filter seating area for leaks before returning the vehicle to service.
