The FORNEY INDUSTRIES INC 71897 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for use on right angle grinders. It measures 4.5 inches in diameter with a 0.25 inch thickness and a 7/8 inch arbor bore. The wheel is constructed from silicon carbide with dual fiberglass reinforcement, giving it the structural integrity needed for consistent material removal on hard, abrasive surfaces. This wheel is sold in a pack of 25 units, making it practical for contractors and tradespeople who run high grinding volume on masonry and non-ferrous material applications.
This grinding wheel is intended primarily for use on ceramic, masonry, plastic, and other non-ferrous materials. It is not rated for ferrous metals. Typical applications include surface grinding, weld cleanup on masonry structures, and material shaping on tile, brick, concrete block, and similar substrates. The depressed center (Type 27) profile allows flat and beveled grinding passes on both flat surfaces and inside corners. Right angle grinder compatibility makes this wheel a standard fit for most common angle grinder setups used in masonry, tile, and general construction trades.
Designed for use on right angle grinders accepting a 4.5 inch wheel with a 7/8 inch arbor. Suitable for grinding ceramic, masonry, plastic, and other non-ferrous materials. Not intended for use on ferrous metals or steel.
Mounting and wheel changes should be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder fully powered off and unplugged. Inspect the wheel for cracks or chips before each use and never mount a damaged wheel. Ensure the arbor size matches before installation and confirm the grinder guard is properly positioned before operation. Follow ANSI B7.1 and applicable OSHA standards for abrasive wheel mounting and use.
