The FORNEY INDUSTRIES INC 71896 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for material removal on masonry, ceramic, plastic, and other non-ferrous surfaces. Measuring 4 inches in diameter with a 1/4 inch thickness and a 5/8 inch arbor bore, it mounts directly to standard right angle grinders. The wheel is constructed from silicon carbide abrasive and reinforced with dual fiberglass layers, providing the structural integrity needed for aggressive grinding at elevated RPM. It is sold in a package of 25 wheels, making it a practical stock item for contractors and tradespeople who work through abrasives at a high rate.
This wheel is suited for masonry work including concrete, block, tile, and similar non-ferrous substrates commonly encountered in construction, renovation, and surface preparation. The depressed center profile keeps the grinding face below the flange plane, allowing flat surface access and reducing interference from the guard during use. It is appropriate for professionals who regularly grind mortar joints, shape masonry units, or prep surfaces before setting or coating.
Designed for use on right angle grinders with a 5/8 inch arbor. Suitable for grinding ceramic, masonry, plastic, and other non-ferrous materials.
Mounting and wheel changes must be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder powered off and the power source disconnected. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never operate a damaged wheel. Ensure the grinder guard is properly in place before starting the tool. Follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels.
