The FORNEY INDUSTRIES INC 42296 is an ER4043 aluminum MIG welding wire designed for gas metal arc welding (GMAW) of aluminum base metals. With a 0.035-inch diameter, this wire feeds through MIG guns equipped for aluminum wire and is compatible with standard spool-driven wire feeders. Each spool weighs 1 pound, making it suitable for shop use, field repair work, and shorter production runs. This wire is commonly selected by welding professionals and fabricators working on aluminum structures, automotive components, and HVAC ductwork where a silicon-bearing filler metal is required for crack resistance and good wetting action.
ER4043 aluminum wire is well suited for welding 3000, 4000, and 6000 series aluminum alloys. It performs reliably in both single-pass and multi-pass applications on sheet metal and light structural aluminum. This product is sold in a package quantity of 6 spools, making it a practical stocking option for shops that regularly service aluminum welding jobs. It is appropriate for use with argon shielding gas, which is standard practice for aluminum MIG welding.
Designed as an OEM-style consumable for MIG welders configured for aluminum wire, including machines with a spool gun or push-pull feed system and the appropriate 0.035-inch aluminum drive rolls and Teflon-lined conduit.
Installation of aluminum MIG wire should be performed by a qualified welder or welding technician familiar with aluminum GMAW procedures. Before loading the spool, power down the welder and release tension on the drive rolls. Use drive rolls and a wire liner specifically rated for aluminum wire to prevent birdnesting. Follow the welding machine manufacturer's recommendations for wire feed speed and voltage settings when establishing welding parameters.
