The Forney Industries 71883 is a Type 27 depressed center grinding wheel designed for aggressive material removal on ferrous metals. Measuring 9 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick with a 5/8-11 arbor bore, this wheel is constructed from aluminum oxide abrasive, a proven material for cutting through steel, iron, and other ferrous workpieces. It is built to mount on right-angle grinders only and is a standard choice for fabrication shops, welding operations, and field repair work where consistent stock removal is required.
This grinding wheel is suited for a range of metal-working applications including general metal grinding, metal abrasion, body work, metal fabrication, and general repair work. The depressed center profile provides clearance for the grinder body during flat or edge grinding passes, making it practical for work on weld beads, surface prep, and material shaping tasks in both shop and field environments. It is intended for use on ferrous materials only and is sold in a package of 10 wheels.

Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the grinder manufacturer's mounting instructions and applicable ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive wheels. Always inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before mounting and never exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing wheels. Ensure the wheel guard is properly secured before operation.
