The FORD METER BOX c84-55-q-nl is a lead-free brass quick joint coupling designed for water service line connections. It measures 2-5/8 inches in length and accommodates 1-1/4 inch fittings on both ends, with a Male Iron Pipe Thread (MIPT) inlet and a CTS Quick Joint outlet. The body is machined from UNS C89833 lead-free brass, meeting ASTM B-584 and AWWA C-800 standards. This coupling is used by licensed plumbers and water service contractors in metered water service applications requiring a secure, pressure-rated mechanical joint without soldering or gluing. Each package contains 8 units.
This coupling is suited for residential and light commercial water service installations where a transition between threaded iron pipe and CTS tubing is required. The quick joint end accepts CTS tubing and creates a hydraulic seal with a molded buna-N spring tip gasket and a stainless steel gripper ring. The octagonal wrench flat body design allows for proper torque application with standard pipe wrenches. Ford Meter Box recommends using insert stiffeners when connecting plastic pipe or tubing to this fitting.
Designed for use in water service line assemblies requiring a 1-1/4 inch MIPT x CTS Quick Joint transition fitting. Compatible with CTS tubing connections; Ford Meter Box recommends insert stiffeners when used with plastic pipe or tubing.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and AWWA C-800 guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Use the octagonal wrench flats to tighten the fitting properly and avoid over-tightening. When connecting plastic or CTS tubing, always install insert stiffeners as recommended by the manufacturer to prevent tubing collapse at the joint.
