The FORD METER BOX c84-45-nl is a no-lead transition coupling designed to connect 1 inch male iron pipe thread (MIP) to 1-1/4 inch copper tube size (CTS) pack joint ends. This fitting is built for water service line applications where a threaded iron or steel pipe must transition to a copper or flexible polyethylene service line. The no-lead construction meets drinking water safety requirements, making it suitable for potable water systems. Licensed plumbers and water service technicians are the primary installers of this fitting in residential and light commercial service connections.
This coupling sees common use in water meter installations, curb stop connections, and service line transitions at the meter pit or vault. The MIP end threads onto a valve, meter, or threaded fitting, while the CTS pack joint end mechanically grips copper or compatible flexible tubing without soldering. It is well suited for new construction service installations as well as repair and replacement work on existing water service connections where a threaded-to-CTS transition is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for water service line assemblies requiring a 1 inch MIP to 1-1/4 inch CTS transition in potable water applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before making any connections. Thread the MIP end onto the mating fitting using appropriate thread sealant or tape rated for potable water service; do not overtighten. Ensure the CTS tubing is cut cleanly and fully seated into the pack joint end before tightening the compression nut to achieve a proper seal.
