The FORD METER BOX 202b-480-ip7 is a double-strap brass saddle fitting designed for tapping 2-inch iron pipe (IP) service connections off a main distribution line. The saddle clamps to the outside of the pipe and provides a secure, leak-resistant outlet for branch connections in water distribution systems. Built from brass, this saddle offers corrosion resistance suited to underground and pressurized water service environments. It is installed by licensed plumbers and water utility technicians as part of new service lateral installations or main line tapping work.
This saddle is sized for pipes with an outside diameter range of 4.80 to 5.10 inches, covering standard 4-inch iron pipe main lines. The 2-inch IP tap outlet accommodates service lines commonly used in residential and light commercial water distribution. Typical installations occur in municipal, utility, and private water system projects where a branch service connection must be added to an existing or new main without a full pipe replacement.
Designed as an OEM-style saddle fitting for 4-inch iron pipe mains with an outside diameter between 4.80 and 5.10 inches, accepting a 2-inch iron pipe tap connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or certified water utility technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and AWWA service installation standards. Shut off and depressurize the main line, or use an approved hot-tap procedure, before securing the saddle straps and making the tap. Torque the strap nuts evenly and in alternating sequence to seat the gasket uniformly against the pipe surface. Pressure-test the connection before backfilling or returning the system to service.
