The FLEXDUCT 460C is a UV-inhibited fiberglass flexible air duct rated at R-6, designed for residential and light commercial HVAC duct distribution systems. At 4 inches in diameter and 25 feet per bag, this flex duct connects air handlers, plenums, and branch fittings to supply registers and diffusers. The fiberglass construction provides the R-6 thermal resistance required by many energy codes for unconditioned space installations such as attics and crawlspaces. The black outer jacket resists UV degradation, making it suitable for exposed or semi-exposed runs where sunlight contact is possible. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors install this duct as part of new construction or replacement duct system work.
This flex duct is used in ducted forced-air systems where flexible branch runs are needed to connect rigid trunk lines or plenums to individual supply outlets. Common install scenarios include attic duct systems, under-floor applications, and tight-space routing where rigid sheet metal duct is impractical. The 4-inch diameter is a standard branch size for residential supply runs serving single rooms or zones. Each bag contains 25 feet of duct, covering typical branch run lengths in a single piece with minimal joints.
Designed as an OEM-style flexible duct for use with standard 4-inch round HVAC fittings, collars, and duct boots in residential and light commercial forced-air distribution systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC contractor in accordance with ACCA Manual D and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before cutting into existing ductwork. Secure each end of the flex duct with an approved draw band and mastic or listed duct tape rated for flexible duct connections — standard cloth-backed tape is not approved for duct sealing. Avoid sharp bends or compressed sections, as these significantly reduce airflow and increase static pressure in the distribution system.
