The FLEXDUCT 1860 is a UV-inhibited fiberglass flexible air duct rated at R-6 insulation, designed for residential and light commercial HVAC distribution systems. Constructed with a fiberglass inner liner and an outer jacket treated to resist UV degradation, this duct runs 18 inches in diameter and 25 feet in length per bag. The R-6 insulation value meets common energy code minimums for unconditioned space installations such as attics and crawlspaces. HVAC installers and sheet metal mechanics use this product to connect air handlers, plenums, and register boxes in low-pressure supply and return air applications.
This flex duct is suited for residential new construction and retrofit HVAC projects where flexible routing is needed around obstructions or where rigid ductwork is impractical. The 18-inch diameter accommodates high-volume trunk or branch runs in larger residential systems or light commercial applications. The UV-inhibited outer jacket makes it appropriate for installations with incidental light exposure, including open attic spaces. The black outer jacket is standard for this product configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation flexible air duct for residential and light commercial low-pressure HVAC supply and return systems using standard 18-inch duct collars and fittings.
Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal mechanics install flexible duct in accordance with SMACNA guidelines and local mechanical codes. Power down and lock out the air handling unit before cutting into or connecting duct sections. Secure all connections with approved clamps and mastic or metal tape rated for duct use — do not use standard cloth-backed tape. Avoid sharp bends or compression of the duct, as either condition significantly reduces airflow and system efficiency.
