The FIELD CONTROLS s2000 is a residential steam humidifier designed to deliver whole-home humidity control independent of heating demand. Operating at 120 volts and 1.6 kilowatts (kW), this unit activates whenever the humidistat calls for humidity, regardless of whether the furnace or air handler is running. An onboard computer watchdog circuit continuously monitors system operation for safety and automatically performs routine maintenance tasks, reducing manual intervention. Coverage extends to 2,400 square feet, making it appropriate for mid-to-large residential applications. A status LED provides at-a-glance operational feedback during installation and service calls.
The s2000 mounts to the supply plenum and introduces steam directly into the airstream through a 6-inch by 6-inch plenum opening. Because it generates humidity via steam rather than evaporation, output is not dependent on airflow or duct temperature. This makes it well-suited for homes with variable-speed or multi-stage systems where fan runtime is reduced. Licensed HVAC technicians typically install this unit during new construction or as an upgrade to existing forced-air systems in residential settings where centralized humidity control is required.
Designed as an OEM-style residential steam humidifier for installation on forced-air systems with a compatible 6-inch by 6-inch plenum opening and a 120-volt power supply.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician. Disconnect power to the air handler or furnace and shut off the water supply before beginning any installation work. The unit connects to a 120-volt circuit and requires a properly sized plenum cutout of 6 inches by 6 inches. Follow local mechanical codes and the manufacturer installation instructions for drain line routing and electrical connections.
