The FERNCO 3000-150 is a Proflex shielded transition coupling designed for above-ground pipe connections in drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems. The neoprene sleeve creates a resilient, leak-resistant joint between dissimilar pipe materials, while the stainless steel shield resists shear forces that occur in above-ground installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this coupling where a permanent, flexible connection is needed between pipes of matching nominal diameter. It fits 1-1/2-inch pipe and bridges cast iron, plastic, steel, copper, and tubular DWV pipe materials in a single transition point.
The 3000-150 is suited for residential and light commercial above-ground plumbing applications, including drain and vent stack connections, fixture drain transitions, and horizontal branch lines. It is a direct replacement for Mission CP150 and is also cross-referenced as DX3000-150. Wherever cast iron meets plastic or copper meets steel in an above-ground DWV run, this coupling provides a code-recognized flexible joint without requiring solvents, flame, or special tooling beyond a torque-calibrated screwdriver or nut driver.
Designed as an above-ground shielded transition coupling for 1-1/2-inch cast iron, plastic, steel, copper, and tubular DWV pipe systems. Listed as a replacement for Mission CP150 and cross-referenced under part number DX3000-150.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and ensure the pipe is depressurized and drained before cutting or disassembling any section of the DWV line. Pipe ends should be clean, deburred, and free of grease before seating the neoprene sleeve. Tighten the stainless steel clamp bands evenly to the fastener manufacturer's standard seating torque using a nut driver or screwdriver — do not overtighten to the point of distorting the neoprene.
