The FERNCO 1002-66 6" is a flexible PVC pipe coupling designed to connect 6-inch clay pipe to cast iron or plastic pipe without special tools. The coupling body is made from elastomeric polyvinyl chloride, a formulation that resists chemicals, ultraviolet rays, fungus growth, and variable soil conditions. Each unit ships with a 300 series stainless steel shear-ring clamp that is corrosion resistant and rustproof. Additional band slots in the clamp body allow for greater sealing flexibility around minor pipe irregularities. This coupling is a standard solution for plumbers and drain contractors making transitions between dissimilar pipe materials in residential and commercial drainage systems.
The 1002-66 6" is suited for below-grade and above-grade drainage applications where a 6-inch clay main must transition to cast iron or plastic pipe. Typical scenarios include sewer lateral repairs, main-line replacements, and municipal connection tie-ins where older vitrified clay infrastructure meets modern PVC or cast iron. The coupling installs using a common flathead screwdriver, nut driver, or socket wrench, making it practical for confined trench work or tight mechanical rooms.
Designed for 6-inch clay to cast iron or plastic pipe transitions in residential and commercial drainage applications. Compatible with dissimilar pipe material connections per standard plumbing practice.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified drain contractors. Shut off flow and relieve any pressure or drain the line before beginning work. Clean and deburr pipe ends before seating the coupling to ensure a proper seal. Tighten clamps evenly to manufacturer torque guidance and verify no visible gaps remain between the coupling body and pipe surface after installation.
