The FANTECH RSK 06 is a round backdraft damper designed to prevent reverse airflow in mechanical ventilation duct systems. It features a galvanized steel collar paired with lightweight aluminum damper blades that are spring loaded for positive closure whenever the system fan is not running. This damper is a standard component in residential and light commercial exhaust and supply air applications, and is installed by HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors working with 6-inch round duct systems. Its spring-loaded mechanism ensures reliable sealing without requiring manual adjustment after installation.
The RSK 06 is suited for 6-inch round duct installations in bathroom exhaust, kitchen ventilation, ERV and HRV duct runs, dryer exhaust, and general forced-air ventilation systems. The galvanized steel collar integrates directly into standard round duct connections, making it a straightforward fit in both new construction and retrofit scenarios. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial projects where preventing back-drafting and conditioned-air loss is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation backdraft damper for 6-inch round duct ventilation systems.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal contractors. Shut down the ventilation system and isolate power to any connected fan or air handler before beginning work. Secure the damper collar to the duct using sheet metal screws and foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes. Verify blade orientation so that airflow opens the damper in the intended direction before finalizing connections.
