The ESAB 35099003 is a carbon copper arc gouging electrode designed for use in air carbon arc gouging (CAC-A) operations. Measuring 5/8 inch in diameter and 12 inches in length, this electrode is rated for 300 amps of continuous gouging current. The carbon core with copper coating provides consistent arc stability and efficient metal removal across a range of base metals. It is installed by certified welders and welding professionals performing groove preparation, defect removal, weld repair, or metal shaping on structural, industrial, and fabrication work. Each package contains 50 electrodes.
Arc gouging electrodes in this diameter range are suited for medium to heavy-duty gouging applications on carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 5/8 inch diameter and 300-amp rating make this electrode appropriate for high-deposition gouging passes in both shop and field environments. Typical applications include weld joint preparation, back-gouging for full-penetration welds, and removal of defective weld metal prior to repair. This product is used in fabrication shops, structural steel work, shipbuilding, and heavy equipment maintenance.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement arc gouging electrode for use with standard air carbon arc gouging torch systems rated to accommodate 5/8 inch diameter electrodes at 300 amps.
Arc gouging electrodes are installed and operated by qualified welding professionals following applicable AWS and workplace safety standards. Before beginning, ensure the power source is set to the correct amperage range and that compressed air supply is properly connected to the gouging torch. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection rated for arc gouging, hearing protection, and flame-resistant clothing. Work in a well-ventilated area or use local exhaust ventilation to control fumes and airborne metal particles.
