The ESAB 1382f05 is a solid carbon steel MIG welding wire classified ER70S-6 with an H4 diffusible hydrogen designation. It is designed for gas metal arc welding (GMAW) of mild and low-alloy steels and delivers a smooth, stable arc with low spatter. The H4 rating indicates very low diffusible hydrogen content, reducing the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking in weld joints. Supplied on a 12-inch spool at 44 pounds, the 0.035-inch diameter wire suits a wide range of sheet metal and structural welding applications. Licensed welders and fabricators working on structural, pipe, or general manufacturing work install and run this wire.
This wire is suited for single- and multi-pass welding on mild steel and low-alloy steel in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions. The ER70S-6 classification means it carries higher levels of deoxidizers compared to ER70S-3, making it a strong choice for welding on base metals with light mill scale or surface oxidation. It is commonly used in fabrication shops, field construction, and maintenance and repair operations where consistent bead appearance and mechanical properties are required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid MIG wire for use in standard GMAW wire feeders and MIG welding systems that accept 12-inch spools and are configured for 0.035-inch wire diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified welder or welding technician familiar with GMAW equipment. Power down and disconnect the welding machine before loading or changing the spool. Confirm drive roll groove size, contact tip size, and liner inside diameter are matched to 0.035-inch wire before feeding. Follow applicable AWS and shop safety standards for shielding gas selection, wire handling, and storage to maintain the H4 hydrogen rating.
