The ENERCO HSSVFRD20 is a vent-free infrared radiant heater rated at 20,000 BTU/h, designed for supplemental space heating in residential and light commercial applications. It uses radiant or infrared heat transfer to warm objects and occupants directly rather than cycling air, delivering near-instant warmth with no flue or chimney connection required. The unit includes an electronic push-button ignition, a thermostatic control with five settings, and a built-in low-oxygen shutoff sensor. A blower rated at 185 CFM is included to distribute heat across the space. Installation hardware for both floor and wall mounting is included in the box. Licensed HVAC or gas technicians are the appropriate trade for final connection and commissioning.
The HSSVFRD20 is suited for uninsulated or semi-conditioned spaces such as garages, basements, workshops, and cabins up to approximately 500 square feet. It accepts either natural gas or liquid propane, making it adaptable to the available fuel supply at the job site. The unit runs without a dedicated electrical circuit for the burner itself, though the blower fan does require electricity. This makes it a practical option for locations where power reliability is a concern. The natural gas variant is available as model HSSVFRD20NGBT. Note that vent-free heaters cannot be shipped to California, and local codes and regulations must be consulted prior to installation.
The HSSVFRD20 is compatible with natural gas and liquid propane fuel supplies. The natural gas configuration is available as model HSSVFRD20NGBT. Designed as an OEM-style vent-free infrared radiant heater for floor or wall mount supplemental heating installations.
Installation and gas line connection must be performed by a licensed gas technician or HVAC professional in accordance with local codes, NFPA 54, and the manufacturer instructions. Shut off the gas supply completely before servicing or connecting the unit. Maintain required clearances: 36 inches above the heater to the ceiling, 3 inches from the floor when using base feet, and 10 inches to each side wall. When wall mounting, position the unit at a height of 36 inches from the floor. Keep all flammable materials, furniture, and textiles outside the required clearance envelope at all times.
