The ENERCO HSSVFBF20NGBT is a 20,000 BTU vent-free blue flame heater designed for natural gas service. It heats room air through convection, making it well suited to well-insulated spaces where residual warmth is needed after the burner cycles off. The unit includes an integrated blower rated at 185 CFM, a thermostatic control knob with five settings, and an electronic push-button ignition. A built-in low-oxygen shutoff sensor monitors combustion air quality and shuts the heater down automatically if oxygen levels drop below safe thresholds. Wall and floor stand mounting kits are included in the box. Licensed HVAC technicians or qualified gas fitters are the appropriate trade for installation.
The HSSVFBF20NGBT is rated for supplemental heating in areas of approximately 450 to 500 square feet. It is designed for residential or light commercial vent-free applications where a dedicated flue is not available or practical. Because the unit operates on natural gas without requiring 120-volt power to produce heat, it continues to function as a heat source during electrical outages, though the blower will not operate without power. The heater can be mounted on a wall or set on the included floor stand feet, offering flexibility for different room layouts and code requirements. Vent-free products cannot be shipped to the state of California.
Designed for use with natural gas supply systems. The HSSVFBF20NGBT is available in the natural gas configuration only; it is not rated for propane or mixed-gas service without manufacturer-specified conversion. Vent-free installation must comply with local building and mechanical codes governing unvented gas appliances.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas fitter or HVAC technician in accordance with the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the gas supply at the service valve before making any connections. Minimum clearances must be maintained: 36 inches above the unit to the ceiling, 3 inches below the unit to the floor when using the base feet, and 10 inches to each side wall. For wall-mounted installations, the manufacturer recommends mounting at 36 inches from the floor for accessibility. Never install this heater in an enclosed space that does not meet the minimum volume requirements for unvented gas appliances as defined by the appliance listing and local mechanical codes.
