The ENCOMPASS bwd-hwa is a solid-state water leak detection alarm designed to provide early warning of unwanted moisture before water damage and mold can develop. The unit sounds a loud 110 decibel alarm when the sensor probe detects water as shallow as 1/32 inch deep. A 6-foot sensor wire allows the probe to be extended into a sump pit or routed to a nearby at-risk location. The alarm runs on a single 9-volt battery (sold separately) and includes a battery-saver circuit to extend battery life from 24 to 48 months between replacements.

This unit is suited for residential installation in basements, mechanical rooms, and utility areas. Common placement locations include sump pits, near water heaters, beside washing machines, under sinks, and adjacent to air conditioning drain pans. When the sensor is wall-mounted, up to 100 feet of additional wire can be added to extend the probe reach to a remote detection point.
