The EMUGE CW92F000.5013 is a thread forming tap designed for cutting 1/2-13 UNC internal threads to a 2BX class of fit. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than remove it, producing stronger threads with no chip generation. This tap features a modified bottoming chamfer with 2-3 chamfered threads, making it well-suited for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Constructed from High-Speed Steel-E (powder metallurgy grade) and finished with a TiN-T1 coating, it offers improved wear resistance and tool life across a range of workpiece materials. Coolant-through capability supports flushing and lubrication during high-speed operation.
This tap is intended for blind hole and through-hole threading applications in materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys, covering material application codes P, M, K, N, and S. Its 3xD flute-by-diameter ratio suits medium-depth threading operations. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians use this tap in CNC machining centers and manual tapping setups where chip-free thread forming is specified. The trade name designation is Druck 2-Z-SN-IKZ-PM-TiN-T1.
Designed for blind hole and through-hole threading of 1/2-13 UNC threads in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers and manual tapping equipment that accept standard shank toolholders sized for a 0.367-inch shank diameter.
Thread forming taps require a properly sized forming tap drill hole, which is typically larger than a standard tap drill size - consult the EMUGE tap drill chart for 1/2-13 UNC forming taps before drilling. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are set per the manufacturer recommendation for the workpiece material, as thread forming generates higher torque than cutting taps. Use appropriate tapping fluid or activate coolant-through supply before engaging the tap. Disconnect machine power or place equipment in a safe state before toolholder changes or tap inspection.
