The EMUGE CU031410.5047 is a thread forming tap designed to produce 1/2-20 UNF internal threads in blind holes without generating chips. Built from High-Speed Steel-E and coated with Titanium Nitride, it delivers increased wear resistance and extended tool life across a range of workpiece materials. The bottoming chamfer style, with 1.5 to 2 chamfered threads, allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Overall length is 4.3307 inches, with a thread length of 0.8661 inches. This tap is part of the EMUGE InnoForm 2-MULTI/E-SN-TiN series and is intended for use by machinists and toolroom technicians in production or maintenance environments.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals, covering material application codes P, M, and N. The 3BX class of fit designates a tight-tolerance thread form appropriate for precision assemblies. Its right-hand thread direction and cold-forming action make it a practical choice for CNC tapping centers, drill presses, and manual tapping applications where chip-free thread forming is required. The shank diameter of 0.3670 inches and square drive size of 0.2750 inches allow compatibility with standard tapping collets and holders.
Designed for blind hole threading in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. Suitable for use in standard tapping holders and collets accepting a 0.3670-inch shank diameter and a 0.2750-inch square drive.
Thread forming taps should be installed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped before mounting or removing the tap. Use appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil recommended for the workpiece material to reduce heat and tool wear. Verify that the tap holder is properly aligned to prevent tap breakage, particularly in blind hole applications where bottoming contact is a risk.
