The EMUGE BU921400.5041 is a thread forming tap designed for producing 10-32 UNF internal threads without cutting chips. Built from High-Speed Steel-E (cobalt-grade HSS) with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, this tap cold-forms threads by displacing material rather than removing it, resulting in stronger thread profiles and longer tool life. The modified bottoming chamfer spans 2-3 threads, allowing the tap to work close to the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 2.756 inches, thread length is 0.512 inches, and maximum tapping depth reaches 0.984 inches. It belongs to the EMUGE Rekord Druck-S series, branded under the trade name Druck 1-STEEL-SN-TiN.
This tap is suited for blind-hole and through-hole threading applications in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports consistent chip-free forming in these materials. Right-hand thread direction is standard. Typical applications include precision fastener holes in sheet metal fabrication, machined assemblies, and light structural components where a 10-32 UNF thread form is specified. The 2BX class of fit provides a controlled interference fit, commonly required for thread inserts and press-fit threading scenarios.
Designed for threading steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals in blind-hole and through-hole applications requiring a 10-32 UNF, 2BX class of fit thread form. Material application codes P, M, and N confirm suitability across these material groups per ISO designation.
This tap is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using a tapping head, CNC machine, or hand tap wrench sized to the 0.152-inch square drive. Always apply an appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil for the workpiece material before use. Ensure the spindle or tap holder is properly aligned to avoid tap breakage, particularly in blind-hole operations where bottoming depth must be monitored. Do not use this tap for cutting-style applications - it is a forming tap and requires a pre-drilled hole sized for thread forming, not thread cutting.
