The EMUGE BU599010.5010 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads without cutting or producing chips. Built from High-Speed Steel-E (cobalt-enhanced HSS) with a TiCN coating, this tap is engineered for demanding tapping applications in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals. It produces a 5/16-18 UNC thread to a 3BX class of fit with a bottoming chamfer of 1.5 to 2 threads, making it well suited for blind hole work where full thread depth close to the bottom is required. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and industrial maintenance professionals all rely on this style of tap for producing strong, work-hardened threads in ductile materials.
This tap is sized for blind hole threading in a 5/16-18 UNC right-hand thread pattern. It is used in light manufacturing, mechanical assembly, and field maintenance across residential and commercial applications wherever a chip-free tapping process is needed. The trade name InnoForm 1-MULTI/E-SN-TiCN reflects its multi-material capability, covering material application codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), and N (non-ferrous metals). The 3xD flute-by-diameter ratio supports a tapping depth up to 1.378 inches, which is well suited for typical blind hole depths encountered in structural and mechanical assemblies.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals (material application codes P, M, and N) in blind hole threading applications. Part of the EMUGE BU599010 series (InnoForm 1-MULTI/E-SN-TiCN).
Thread forming taps require a properly sized forming tap drill hole, which is larger than the equivalent cutting tap drill size - consult published forming tap drill charts for the specific material before drilling. Power down all equipment and secure the workpiece before tapping operations. Use appropriate tapping fluid or cutting oil rated for the workpiece material to maximize tool life and thread quality. This tool should be installed and operated by qualified machinists or tradespeople familiar with proper tap speed and feed rates for forming taps.
