The EMUGE B5296A00.0040 is a metric thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads in blind holes without cutting chips. Manufactured from High-Speed Steel-E-PM (powder metallurgy HSS) with a TiN-T26 coating, it produces a 6HX class of fit M4x0.7 thread using a bottoming chamfer of 1.5 to 2 threads. The overall length is 2.4803 inches with a tapping depth of 0.8268 inches, making it well suited for compact workpieces requiring full thread engagement close to the hole bottom. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this tap in CNC machining centers or tapping machines in metalworking and precision manufacturing environments.
This tap is engineered for blind hole threading in steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to material application codes P and M. The bottoming chamfer allows the tap to form threads nearly to the bottom of a blind hole, which is critical in close-tolerance assemblies. The TiN-T26 coating reduces friction and improves wear resistance during the cold-forming process, extending tool life in production runs. It carries the EMUGE trade name InnoForm 1-VA/E-SN-PM-TiN-T26 and belongs to the B5296A00 series.
Designed for blind hole threading in steel and stainless steel materials (material application codes P and M) requiring M4x0.7 metric threads at a 6HX class of fit.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the machine tool manufacturer's recommended spindle speeds and lubricant specifications for thread forming taps. Always ensure the pilot hole diameter is correct for cold-forming the specified thread size before starting the operation. Secure the tap in an appropriate tapping chuck or holder designed for form tapping to maintain concentricity and prevent tap breakage. Do not use this tap as a cutting tap - it is a forming tool and requires a correctly sized pre-drilled hole.
