The EMUGE 2996L.0500 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for combined roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Built with 4 flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, it delivers efficient material removal while maintaining surface finish quality. The tool features an AlCr coating for heat and wear resistance, a 0.008 inch chamfer length at the cutting edge, and a helix angle ranging from 35 to 42 degrees for improved chip evacuation. At 0.5 inch in diameter with a stub-length profile and extended reach geometry, it is suited to demanding CNC milling applications where tool rigidity and finish quality both matter. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments will find this a capable general-purpose end mill for ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining center applications requiring a 1/2 inch shank. With a 2 inch length of cut and a 4-1/2 inch overall length, it handles moderate-depth pocketing, profiling, and slotting passes. The Series 2996L designation places it within an extended-reach stub-length family intended for applications where additional clearance is needed without sacrificing rigidity. It is sold individually and carries a minimum order quantity of 1.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch tool holders on CNC milling machines. Suited for shops running ferrous and non-ferrous milling operations requiring combined roughing and finishing capability in a single solid carbide end mill.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank, and torque the set screw or collet to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Always verify cutting parameters against the workpiece material before the first pass.
