The Empire Comfort Systems RH50CB is a 50,000 BTU/h freestanding vented gas heater designed to warm medium-sized rooms in residential applications. It operates on either natural gas or liquid propane and uses a standing pilot ignition with thermostatic control for consistent, hands-off temperature regulation. An integrated blower delivers 100 CFM of airflow to improve heat distribution throughout the space. The unit vents through a standard B-vent system with a 5-inch vent connection, and the draft diverter accommodates both horizontal and vertical vent configurations. Rated at 63 to 65 percent AFUE, the RH50CB provides efficient gas heat without requiring electrical power during normal operation.
This heater is intended for freestanding installation in residential or light commercial spaces where a B-vent connection is accessible. It is well-suited for living rooms, workshops, cabinets with an open front design configuration, and other medium-sized areas where supplemental or primary heat is needed. The unit is available in natural gas (RH-50CB-NAT) and liquid propane (RH-50CB-LP) configurations. Because it operates without electricity, it continues to function during power outages, making it a reliable primary heat source in areas prone to outages.
The RH50CB is available in two fuel-specific variants: RH-50CB-NAT for natural gas and RH-50CB-LP for liquid propane. Verify local gas supply type before ordering. Designed for use with standard residential B-vent systems using a 5-inch vent connector.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas technician in accordance with local codes and the applicable provisions of the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply at the service valve before making any gas connections and verify there are no leaks after connection. Required clearances are 55 inches to the ceiling, 6 inches to a side wall, 2 inches to the rear wall, 18 inches on the access side, and 2 inches for flue and vent connectors. Some jurisdictions require a post-installation inspection of gas appliances — confirm local requirements before commissioning the unit.
