The ELKHART PRODUCTS WP7-12-08 is a wrought copper 90-degree reducing elbow designed for sweat-solder copper tubing systems. It transitions from a 3/4-inch line to a 1/2-inch line in a close-rough configuration, making it well suited for tight spaces where a standard long-pattern elbow would not fit. Weighing 0.073 pounds, the fitting is machined from wrought copper for consistent wall thickness and reliable solder joint performance. Plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting in potable water distribution, hydronic heating, and general copper piping systems where a directional change and pipe-size reduction occur at the same connection point.
This reducing elbow is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper tubing is the specified pipe material. Typical installations include domestic hot and cold water supply runs, baseboard heating loops, and radiant system branch lines. The close-rough body style allows the fitting to be roughed in where clearance is limited before finish work is completed. Both ends accept standard copper tubing in a solder cup configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard copper tubing systems using 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch nominal sweat connections per ASTM B88 tubing specifications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the applicable plumbing code, such as the IPC or UPC. Shut off the water supply and fully drain the line before cutting or soldering. Clean all tube ends and fitting cups with emery cloth and apply flux before heating; use lead-free solder as required by code for potable water systems. Allow the joint to cool completely before restoring water pressure.
