The ELKHART PRODUCTS WP3-2-24 is a wrot copper female street adapter designed to connect a sweat fitting end to a female iron pipe thread. At 1-1/2 inches, this adapter transitions between a FTG (fitting) end and an FIP (female iron pipe) threaded connection using a standard solder joint. It is a staple fitting in copper water distribution and drain systems on both residential and light commercial projects. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter when transitioning from copper sweat piping to a threaded female connection point at valves, fixtures, or equipment stubs.
This fitting is used in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating piping, and general plumbing distribution systems. Its wrot copper construction makes it suitable for above-ground and underground applications where code requires copper-alloy fittings. Typical install scenarios include connecting copper branch lines to threaded valve bodies or fixture supply drops requiring a female pipe thread at the termination point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-1/2 inch copper sweat piping systems requiring a female iron pipe thread termination.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and drain the water supply before soldering. Clean and flux both the FTG end and the receiving fitting socket thoroughly before applying heat. Do not apply thread sealant to the FIP end until the solder joint has fully cooled and the fitting has been inspected.
