The ELKHART PRODUCTS WP3-2-08-04 is a wrot copper female reducing street adapter designed for solder-joint copper piping systems. It connects a fitting-end (FTG) outlet to a female (F) inlet, allowing a transition from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch line size within the same assembly. The wrot construction means the fitting is wrought — formed from solid copper bar or tube stock — delivering consistent wall thickness and reliable joint integrity. At 0.041 pounds, it is a compact, lightweight fitting suited for tight installation spaces. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of adapter wherever a reducing connection is needed without a separate coupling.
This adapter is used in residential and light commercial copper plumbing systems, refrigeration lines, and HVAC applications where a 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch size reduction is required at a street fitting position. The FTG x F connection style allows it to insert directly into another fitting socket, eliminating the need for an additional short section of pipe between connections. It is commonly specified on refrigerant, water supply, and instrumentation tubing runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for wrot copper solder-joint piping systems using 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch nominal tube sizes.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and ASTM B88 copper tube standards. Shut off and depressurize the system and drain all fluid from the line before cutting or fitting. Clean both the FTG end and the female socket with emery cloth and apply an approved flux before soldering. Do not apply heat directly to the solder — heat the fitting body to draw solder into the joint evenly.
