The ELKHART PRODUCTS WP02-64-48 is a wrot copper fitting reducer designed to transition between 4-inch and 3-inch copper pipe in pressure and drain piping systems. Wrot copper construction means the fitting is wrought — formed from solid copper stock — giving it consistent wall thickness and reliable soldered joint integrity. The FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) end configuration accepts a sweat-fit male copper tube on one end and a standard sweat cup on the other, allowing direct inline installation without additional adapters. Plumbers and pipefitters install this reducer during new construction and retrofit work where pipe sizing changes in a run.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where a copper piping run steps down from 4-inch main line to 3-inch branch or drain service. The solder-joint (sweat) connection type is standard for copper piping and is compatible with common lead-free solder alloys per current plumbing codes. Model 118 in the ELKHART PRODUCTS wrot copper fitting line, this reducer fits into potable water, hydronic, and drain-waste-vent applications where copper is the specified material.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat-fit replacement or new-installation copper reducer for 4-inch to 3-inch copper piping systems using standard FTG x C solder-joint connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Clean and flux all mating surfaces before applying heat; use a lead-free solder alloy where required by code. Allow the joint to cool fully before restoring system pressure and inspecting for leaks.
