The ELKHART PRODUCTS FR-3X114 is a wrot copper fitting reducer designed to transition between a 3-inch and a 1-1/4-inch copper pipe line. It uses a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) connection with a solder joint, giving plumbers a clean, permanent reduction in a straight run without additional adapters. The wrot construction means the fitting is wrought — worked copper — which provides a dense grain structure, consistent wall thickness, and reliable solder flow at the joint. This reducer is a standard component in pressure-rated copper piping systems for water distribution and HVAC hydronic circuits.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing applications wherever a 3-inch main must reduce down to a 1-1/4-inch branch or sub-main. Typical scenarios include domestic water supply headers, recirculation lines, and hydronic heating piping. The FTG socket end slides directly over copper tube, while the C end accepts standard copper tubing, making it compatible with standard copper tube sweat assemblies without additional couplings.
Designed as an OEM-style wrot copper sweat fitting for use with standard copper tube in residential and light commercial pressure piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water system and ensure all pipe sections are fully dry before soldering. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before heating; follow safe soldering practices to prevent overheating the fitting. Do not use this fitting for gas piping applications.
