The ELKHART PRODUCTS FR-34X12 is a copper fitting reducer designed to transition copper tubing from a 3/4-inch line down to a 1/2-inch line using a solder-type connection. Part of the KLEENFIT product line, this fitting arrives cleaned and bagged to meet cleanliness standards required for potable water and HVAC refrigerant piping applications. The FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) end configuration allows one end to receive a copper fitting and the other to accept standard copper tube, making it a straightforward sweat-solder component for reducing pipe diameter in a run. Licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians are the typical installers.
This fitting reducer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing and HVAC piping systems where a size transition from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch copper is required. The KLEENFIT designation indicates the fitting is pre-cleaned and individually bagged, which is particularly useful on jobs requiring compliance with cleanliness standards for medical gas, refrigerant, or potable water lines. It is used in both new construction rough-in and retrofit piping work.
Designed as an OEM-style sweat-solder reducer for 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch copper piping systems in residential and commercial plumbing or HVAC applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or HVAC technician in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IAPMO or IPC standards. Shut off and depressurize the water or refrigerant line before cutting and fitting. Clean and flux both the tube end and the fitting socket before applying heat to ensure a sound solder joint. Do not overheat the fitting, as excessive heat can damage the copper or compromise joint integrity.
