The ELKHART PRODUCTS FR-2X112 is a wrought copper fitting reducer designed to transition between 2-inch and 1-1/2-inch copper tubing within water supply and distribution systems. Manufactured from wrot copper for reliable performance and corrosion resistance, this reducer uses a FTG x C (fitting-to-copper) connection and is joined by soldering. At 0.374 pounds and compact in size, it is a standard component in residential and commercial plumbing rough-in work. Licensed plumbers install this type of reducer wherever a diameter change is required in a copper piping run.
This reducer is suited for use in potable water supply lines, hydronic heating systems, and general plumbing distribution applications. The FTG x C configuration allows one end to receive a copper tube fitting socket while the other end accepts standard copper tubing, making it practical for inline reductions within an existing copper system. It is appropriate for both new construction and retrofit plumbing projects where a 2-inch line must step down to a 1-1/2-inch branch or continuation.
Designed as an OEM-style wrought copper reducer for use in standard residential and commercial copper plumbing systems requiring a 2-inch to 1-1/2-inch diameter transition with a FTG x C solder connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and drain the affected line before cutting or soldering. Clean and flux all mating surfaces thoroughly before applying heat to ensure a sound, leak-free solder joint. Use only lead-free solder and flux approved for potable water service where applicable.
